💪 Focused Efforts for Better Access!
According to Ato Tesfaye Worku, the Director General of EHIS, there is a strong focus on enhancing the accessibility of quality health insurance services for all. He highlighted that the service is making a significant contribution by ensuring that citizens who cannot afford to pay for health insurance still receive the necessary medical care.
💫 What is the main benefit?
When citizens face a health problem, they can go to health institutions without worrying about additional medical costs and get treatment without any fear—what a huge relief!
🌍 Where We Are Now
The health insurance service is currently being implemented in all regions and city administrations across 1,195 districts.
13.67 Million households/families have become members!
Over 63 Million citizens are now beneficiaries of the service!
This is a remarkable number, showing that millions of Ethiopians are benefiting from this vital service!
🚀 Future Plans
Ato Tesfaye Worku stated that EHIS will work in collaboration with stakeholders to reach the districts where the service has not yet started. Furthermore:
Community Mobilization: A community-based health insurance mobilization effort is underway, running from last October until February. Let’s spread the word!
Fair Contribution: A new system is being implemented to ensure members pay a fair contribution based on their income level.
Tech-Enabled Service: The Director General noted that a digital ID (Fayda ID) is necessary to make the service delivery process more technology-aided and efficient. Technology for better health care!
